Biofeedback is a process that enables an individual to learn how to change physiological activity for the purposes of improving health and performance. Precise instruments measure physiological activity such as brainwaves, heart function, breathing, muscle activity, skin temperature and sweat. These instruments rapidly and accurately “feed back” information to the user. The presentation of this information — often in conjunction with changes in thinking, emotions, and behavior — supports desired physiological changes. Biofeedback provides the client and practitioner with objective data that allows us to track, monitor and adjust treatment protocols as needed to achieve client goals.
Biofeedback is effective in treating a number of physical and mental issues including: Anxiety, Chronic Pain, Panic Attacks, PTSD, Back and Neck Pain, TMJ Disorders/ TMD, Joint Pain/Dysfunction, Tension and Migraine Headaches, Hypertension, Asthma, Insomnia, ADHD, Post-Concussion symptoms, Substance Abuse and more.
Corporate executives, musicians, artists, and athletes including Olympic medal winners, use biofeedback and neurofeedback to reach their peaks in competition and performance.
Biofeedback is an effective approach to help clients reregulate their autonomic nervous system (think fight-flight-freeze). If you find yourself: feeling hyper-vigilant; having cold hands or cold feet; breaking out into a sweat for no apparent reason; having feelings of overwhelm, panic or depression; experiencing a rapid heart rate or unsettled energy (want to climb out of your skin); your autonomic nervous system might be dysregulated. Helping clients regulate their autonomic nervous system and increase their capacity to deal with life's stressors and difficult challenges is one of our specialties.

Types of Biofeedback
Biofeedback provides you with information about your performance to increase your awareness and control over your own body. Six major types of biofeedback include: heart rate variability (HRV); muscle (sEMG); respiratory; skin conductance (sweat); temperature; and brainwaves (neurofeedback - EEG).
